ABOUT CUTUP



CutUp are an anonymous collective of artists based in East London, who work in outdoor intervention, film and sound installation. Their work focuses largely on the processes of disruption inherent in the everyday and on the reconfiguring of pre-existing systems within the urban environment.

Recent exhibitions in 2008 include Markov Chain Monte Carlo, Louise Blouin Institute (London), Disabled Nylon, Durham Arts Festival (Durham, UK), Grand Hotel Abyss, Seventeen (London), New Work, BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art (Gateshead, UK). In 2007 CutUp created outdoor sound and poster works for the Conflux Festival in New York and the Hackney Wick Project in London. Previous installations have been featured by Wallis Gallery (London), Urbis Centre for Urban Art (Manchester), Wysing Arts, (Cambridge), Kulturhuset Mazetti (Malmö), Tanya Bonakdar Gallery (New York), NIU (Barcelona) and with the Arts Council England (London).

CutUp’s work has been featured in The Guardian, Dazed & Confused, Grafik, ArtReview, Time Out, The Sunday Times, The Independent, State of Art, Black Book, Monoclab (Spain), IdN (Japan), YEN Magazine (Australia), Kultureflash, Wooster Collective and more. Broadcast coverage includes Channel 4 News, Resonance FM, and the BBC.
